This may be a dumb question. But is our front drive shaft always locked in or is it free when not engaged? I ask because I assumed my Auto Hubs were not working. So I turned both hubs to Locked. Then I engaged the 4wd switch in the truck. My driveshaft is locked as I assume it should be. However I still have no 4x4. So i'm assuming the switch just controls a servo of some sort in the transfer case and maybe that isnt engaging? I hear it click in and click out when I turn the **** in the truck.
In short, Hubs are locked, Axles are locked (cant spin joints when on ground), driveshaft is locked (cant spin shaft by hand on ground), turn in cab switch, hear a click. Still no 4x4.
Maybe I am overlooking something. This is the first selectable 4x4 I have ever had that didnt have a lever on the floor (which i greatly prefer) so i'm hoping it is something simple.
Put the transfer case in 2wd and lock the hubs, then see of the driveshaft turns if it does then one of of your hubs isn't engaging. Then unlock the hubs and make sure the driveshaft turns freely then shift the transfer case in 4x4 then try to turn the driveshaft if it turns then the transfer case isn't engaging.
