Our NY property tax was about $660, school tax $40 thanks to Enhanced Star program and other taxpayers (benefit of getting old). NY school taxes are way out of line. Too bad the Lottery proceeds don't go to education like they were supposed to. They do in Virginia. VA has one property tax- about $365 here, on the house and land. Another property tax is on your vehicles, tools and equipment if you are in a business. Tax on food and clothing which we don't have in NY.

Maybe I have to move to NY state. NAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! 
My taxes are more than twice my fathers taxes a few towns away...and...his house is valued at approximately twice my condo!!! I think we need a new mayor who can cut spending.

Several years ago here in Virginia the gov raised the sales tax so the state could get "in the black" . VA got in the black and the gov put the sales tax to the previous rate.

It's on record, Rick. The Virginia gov actually did that 
Never happen in NY. Few years back NY started a "fee" on tires to help clean up tire dumps. Clean up supposedly done, "fee" continues and is now a tax
with the money going?????

No dump fires , Bud. The State says it cleaned all the dumps up. And, the State would never lie would it??
I do know of several places were tires are piled up. Health Dept even with the Zika threat doesn't seem to care. (I called the ones in Seneca and Tompkins County)
