New owner - rear view mirror/camera recommendations

Hey all.. purchased a used 2013 F-250 XLT 6.2L the other day and am looking to add an auto-dimming rear view mirror as well as a backup camera, with the camera display preferably in the mirror. Since this is an XLT there are no cables running to the existing mirror. Any recommendations on equipment and where to pull power from?

There are many options for back up cameras, I went with a display stereo type.
Depending on how much money you wanted to spend. The ones in the rear view mirror were not all that good...

just my 2 cents worth

Unfortunately I don't want to spend the money to replace the stock stereo with one that can take a camera input. I came from a Tundra that had the rear view camera display in the mirror and found it incredibly helpful even though it was a much smaller display.

Yea. I guess it depends on what type of driver you are and where you drive. For me, I’m always hooking up trailer?boat, airplane trailer. Also parking where children play.

with mine its saved me a many child’s toy. And its most helpful with the trailers....

best of luck

the little mirror ones are all but useless for detail.

I have a Peak 3 1/2 inch backup camera... like 80 dollars at any auto parts store.

I also have a 7 inch GPS with a backup camera for behind the travel Trailer...

Thanks for the input, for $80 it's worth trying an external camera display. I also tow a 34' travel trailer a lot so there's lots of hooking and unhooking.

I still however would like the auto-dimming mirror, not sure if anyone has feedback on that.

I have never found one that I like. I have driven many late model vehicles and the auto dim is never dim enough and doesn't react quickly enough to suit my taste. When they get old they fail and look like a gloppy mess. It is not a feature I want and I would certainly never retrofit one into a vehicle.
