fordman75 -- If I am building a 1992 EFI head with pedestals and I will be running Chevy 4.924" long I & Ex that are .049" taller than stock with 7/16 screw in studs do I really need to mill the pedestal lower or do I need to mill it the thickness of the guide plate (.135") so the stud hex nut is at the original pedestal height ?

BaronVonAutomatic -- I am running 245# open pressure with my RV cam and BBC 1.7 roller rockers. 3/8 x 7/16 screw in studs would work fine for a mild street motor.

Ok I got the head machined for screw in studs and plates, decked on the surface and had to put 1 exhaust seat in due to seat erosion. I valve job it and it will be ready to put together.
Parts are in except for rockers and pushrods.

I cant seem to find hardened pushrods with out going to custom made.
Who makes replacement hardened pushrods?

Have you checked out the new rocker geometry to make sure it is correct?

If it is correct it will tell you what length the new hardened pushrod will be.
Not likely to be stock length, May be why you are having a problem finding them.

Smith Brothers has some off shelf hardened pushrods, but you may have to go with custom ones to get the exact length you want. This is why a lot of guys go for an older head with the slots that do not require hardened pushrods.
