Removed headliner to reveal mouse nest
I knew I had a mouse nest above the headliner in my 55 F350. The headliner was cracked on the passenger side and I would see nesting material come out from time to time. I am getting the truck painted this winter and there are some dents in the roof to get out and I want to add clearance lights so the headliner needed to come out. I also plan on putting sound and heat insulation in (real insulation not mouse nest insulation!).
I want to use the original headliner as it is in good shape and they don't make them like that anymore. See the grain detail in the cardboard in the picture. The reproduction headliners are just plain gray cardboard.
Here is the nest:
some of the nest attached to the roof:
Here is the headliner in the back of my 54. I plan on glueing cereal box cardboard to the back of the headliner to hold it together where the crack is. I did this with a kick panel and it worked. I did have a tear at the one corner and I'll do the same to that.

The rubber seal that goes goes along the header above the windshield also goes along the sides above the doors and then down the back of the doors. The edge is tucked Under the rear window rubber on the side. There is a screw at the top of the corner of the headliner under the window.

I am thinking of buying the MidFifty Headliner Insulation Kit on page 24. It comes with precut sound dampeners, precut roof insulation, high temp adhesive, tape and instructions. All for $89. I know it's cheaper to get insulation elsewhere, but what do you think?

Amazingly enough, my seat is in good condition. I double checked today and it is possible that they got some stuffing from the sides of the seat back.

I used the kit from Midfifty but don't think there is enough sound deadening...

It's not really bad just think that the sound deadening material could have been a little thicker and the strips wider. There was 6 strips for the headliner. Dynamat makes a really good system but much costlier ...There is another company called QuietRide Solutions might want to check them out too. I've never bought anything from them, might even be the same as what Midfifty sells...
