1993 - sensor in air intake tube?

Hey guys- sorry for a dumb question. I spend all my time in the older forums, and working on a truck this new is a rare experience for me.

I'm trying to help my buddy, who has a '93 F150, 302 automatic. the previous owner did a bunch of dumb stuff, so the truck runs like crap. i'm trying to help him un-do all the previous owner's sins.

There is a aftermarket cold-air intake on the truck. about mid-way of the cold-air intake tube, there is a loose electrical connector just hanging out of the stock harness. i'm guessing it would have plugged into something in the stock intake tubing.

MAF? temp sensor? what am i looking at?

thank you-

POSSIBLY a air temp sensor. 1993 did NOT have MAF. The 94-97 diesel had Air temp sensor but not sure about the gas trucks

I have a 93 f150, 5.0 E4OD 4x4 and there are no electrical connections in nor wiring near either of the stock intake tubes.

Does it have an ac compressor? The ac compressor is right there....a pic of the plug would help.

Agree with ‘892urd. A picture is worth a thousand words. I/we can’t see what you are looking at.

My best guess is a connector for the power steering pressure switch. There should be a sensor in the high pressure line that connector is supposed to hook up to. It tells the computer to bump up the idle RPM when turning the steering wheel.

Connector C1016 to be exact.

I believe 5.0 trucks with the E4OD didn't use the power steering press. switch.

The female end will still be there though.

I am pretty certain all 5L F150 and Broncos came with a PSPS in this vintage.

The female end would be the switch itself that is located in the high pressure power steering line. Most likely that has been eliminated.

Run the KOER tests and see if you get a code for an open PSPS. If not, I stand corrected!

My '93 F150 5.0/E4OD= NO
My 95 Bronco 5.8/E4OD = NO
and
I read of others that the switch was not used on E4od trucks

Just a wire near the valve cover...

Sure about that? Look at the picture again. It clearly goes over what it plugs into/on.

5.8L trucks did not use that pressure switch. First time I recall anyone stating 5L trucks withan E4OD did not have one. Anything is possible.

Am I sure that connector is for the PSPS? Pretty sure based on the design of the switch.

Does the OP's truck have one? Perhaps not based on the info you provided.

Yeah, I don't think the 5.8 used one at all

Just one way early thread among many:
