Labeling your truck female and giving it a female name is asking for problems! She's never going to be ready to go when you are, she'll never know what she wants and could potentially be high maintenance. How many pairs of shoes will she go through? If she catches you in another truck she'll get jealous. I know I'm stereotyping here, I've heard unicorns exist but I've never seen one.

Then just to be sure she would start in cold weather I got in and fired her up. Skippy took about 15 seconds of cranking after the glowplugs went off (they were new) but Harmony was off and running in 3 seconds. OMGosh!
There is no problem with running regular Green coolant in a 7.3 as long as you use the SCA additive.

Grats on the new truck, she's a beauty!

As far as finding out if it has keyless entry, throw the vin in Ford ETIS and it'll tell you what all packages the new girl has installed for ya.

Just a tired old note, but I would move the new air intake/filter to the top of the list ASAP.
Nice looking rig by the way. Good find!

Hey Plugger, Nice truck, Congrats.

To determine if you have the keyless feature on your truck see the programming instructions in the thread linked below. follow the first section and see if your locks go up and down. If they do you have keyless then you just need to find a couple of fobs and program them. They are fairly cheap and easy to come by. If they don't move when doing that first step then your stuck like me with no keyless feature.

Good luck

Agreed! The new filters are 90 bucks though, and the setup is $250 so it'll be one of those ASAP deals I'll do when I get Christmas out from under me.

Brilliant! I'll do that right now...And guess what?

SUCCESS!!!!

Now to add "Find some fobs" to my list!

Edit: Well dang, they're only 6 bucks! Heck, I got that in the front pocket. And now they're on the way.

Thanks Dave! I didn't know about the Noble CL. Can you PM me a link?

Now that we've had her a little bit I'm keeping my eyes and ears open to her problems. Every truck has 'em, and she's no different. I just wish that when a buyer said, "I know she's old. I don't mind turning wrenches on her. Any problems or mods?" that the seller would answer truthfully without worrying about muddying up the sale.

That air filter isn't a K&N, but an AFE Magnum Force setup, which I guess is an OK setup according to some members. But someone stuck a cheap-o Specter on it instead of washing out the AFE.

Next, she started shifting hard. I thought maybe she had naturally hard shifting due to the huge monster engine hooked to that trans, but this was getting nutty. So, I checked the fluid. Bone dry. Took 3 quarts to register on the stick. Four to bring it up to good on a hot trans. A leak somewhere I guess. I've seen people with issues around the fill tube and the front seal. We'll see which one it is when it warms up outside. It's 21 right now and it'll be 8 tonight. Not my kinda wrenchin' weather.

That green coolant still bugs me. I'll probably flush it out too once it warms up.

And finally (so far) when she gets to about 1/8 of a tank of fuel she is DONE. Like, you better be pulling into the gas station. Suspect busted pickup foot, but that'll be fixed when I do the hutch/harpoon mods. Gotta love 38 gallon tanks. I can live with keeping it above 1/4 tank until then.

That's it so far. As always I'll document the heck out of anything I do.

EDIT: Found my real air filter, here's what should be in there:
https://afepower.com/afe-power-24-40...-5r-air-filter
The whole setup is a $330.00 setup, that's more than I paid for my AIS in Skippy! Here's a link:
https://afepower.com/afe-power-54-10...-intake-system
And it's totally rinse-able so I don't have to change it out every time I do the fuel filter and oil.

I've got all the various fluids on the way now, except for the differentials. Still looking to see what I should put in there.

Oh well. I was curious if it was the same truck and what all the ad had to say.

Well I got my orders in for my:

Luber Finer fuel filter
Power mirrors switch (PO liked to drive in the wet with the windows open)
Chevron Delo ELC from NAPA
XL-12 fluid for the transfer case
I already have a Motorcraft oil filter from Skippy
And I got lucky and found my $80.00 AFE Stage 2 filter for 20 something bucks so I can get rid of this crappy and dangerous Spectre filter.

For the power mirror switch, I'm wondering if a generous helping of dielectric grease will put an end to the problem of water on the buttons. We'll see.

Waiting for the Brown Santa to show up but it's looking like my to-do list for today was cut in half.

5 1/2 gallons of coolant - Check!
Almost 4 gallons of Oil/Fuel filters - Check!
Jack up wheels and check for frozen rotors - Check!
Sloppy steering (tie rod ends? Steering gear allen wrench thingy?)
Tighten steering gearbox?Allen adjustment on the gearbox, do 1/8 turn at a time until slack was gone.
Occasional Chime during key-on, seat belt chime maybe?
Trans OD light blinks - Pull codes - needs sensor.
Strange whistle = Aha! Fuel pump!
285 Tires rubbing in front = spacers? Steel only.
Air filter - Check!
Verify the 4wd doesn't stay engaged and manual wheel locks work.
Keyless entry fobs - Check!
New step nerf bars - Too much money right now
Glowplug LED mod - If time
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...wmriceman.html
6.0 trans cooler, (too much money right now)
Amazon Amazon
and adapters 1/2 X 3/8 RED. HOSE BARB SPLICER
and Magnefine 1/2" Inline Magnetic Transmission Filter:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnefine-1...917?rmvSB=true
Cup thrower = Hate this thing so much.
Front brush guard to keep prius's out of the way.

that's the list for now. We'll see how much of it I get through today. My number 1 helper is down sick with a stomach bug so it's just me and The Boy today.

Don't forget distilled water for flushing and mixing with your coolant. Be sure to flush it well first- see Gooch's method

When you decide to do the 6.0L transmission cooler, be sure to check out my thread where I had to FIX my installation due to damaging the (very brittle) radiator.

Spoiler: Be sure to keep your fittings OUTSIDE the radiator area. Vibrations of brass fittings against thin aluminum...

Keep us updated, looks like you are getting the right things done!

Hutch mod and intake fuel lines?

Aluminium wheel spacers are fine as long as they are good quality, hub centric, and are installed properly. I have been running aluminum spacers for a year with no problems.
