There's no telling without version release notes on the firmware what parameters have changed since 2011 but I drove with a failed DEF injector (doser) for several months earlier this year. Based on my experience, I'd say the doser isn't causing your idle only but I suppose it's possible my truck never determined there was an issue and yours does detect an issue causing the shutdown. Mine was injecting enough DEF (stuck open) that the inside exhaust tips were white as if it was salt from the road. Additionally, active regeneration's until the exhaust hit about 1,000°F were a smoky adventure for folks behind me then it would clean up. I don't know why it reacted the way it did between about 600°F to 1,000°F on EGT4 and was clean at 1,100°F+.

I didn't notice any white residue on the exhaust tips, but because of the warnings and computer imposed restrictions, I didn't run it very long with the fault. I also didn't get into a regen, and since the mech ran a manual regen in the shop, I probably won't get a regen for a while once my truck is returned. Haven't heard anything from the dealership yet. I will say that I'm surprised at how snappy the ecoboost power plant is in the loaner they gave me.

Thanks for the post kper05.

Well this weekend they determined it was a Nox sensor that caused the problem. They ordered one in, and they installed it today. I'll pick up the truck in the morning. We'll see, and hopefully I don't seen this fault pop up again!

Got her back, but when I got her home I found communication fault codes likely left over from their work. I cleared them.

But....warning popped up 438 miles on DEF fluid, noticed my torque pro said 0.8g, I dropped it off with 3.1g. Figured maybe the mech lost some fluid while working on it so I decided to just fill the tank. She only took a smidge over 2 gallons, which means she actually was still around 3.1g and not 0.8g. Then I tried looking at the Information--System---Exhaust Fluid Level on the instrument cluster, but get this, that line wasn't there! The Oil Life, Engine Hours, Idle Hours, etc were all there, but the Exhaust Fluid Level was missing. Headed back to the dealership after starting her a couple times over the next 2 hours to see if it would update. By the time I got about 10 minutes down the road, the DEF level on Torque Pro jumped back to 3.1g, the count down warning on the instrument cluster went away, and all of a sudden the Exhaust Fluid Level line appeared and said Ok. I'm guessing the mechanic didn't reset the SCR, which I've read it needed to reread the DEF fluid level. Anyone else see this happen before. Very odd.

I turned around and came home. Told the Service Writer what happened.

F250 6.7L 2016 NOx sensor problems

Yes I more than share your concern. I have a 2016 F250 6.7 Certified Ford On 12/12/2017 I had the engine light come on and tell me that it was going into delimit mode in 50 miles. It only had 36500 miles. I took it in and they Removed and replaced one NOx sensor. It was covered under warranty. Drove it for 220 miles and same engine light came on. Ford did a manual regen of the system and found the second sensor was bad. So should change both sensors if one is bad. On 2/02/18 the service light came on and this time it was The EGRT sensor at 38651 miles. It was covered under warranty but still did not have my truck to pull with while repairs were being done
Now on 1/14/19 just after the one year I had the service engine light come on again and the delimit mode in 50 miles...... guess what it is my Nox sensors again. At 54003 miles is is not covered under warranty and it is longer than the 1 year parts replacement. It cost me $1879 to have it done.
This is the third set of NOx sensors on my Ford Diesel 6.7 including the original.
You should be aware of this. I an not a happy camper, boater or driver currently with the Ford

u9000 the nox sensor it self dosent require reprograming but if the nox module was replaced then that does require the module to be programed but 3hrs to reprogram is a absolute rip off I do reprograms with ids in the dealer in less than 20 min

I also advise all of you guys to physically ask your dealer to show you the results of the def contamination test and diesel fuel contamination as I have come to find out from talking with many techs from other dealerships that there dealerships don't even have the proper testing equipment and like I said ford says that contamination is the number one cause look up GSB G0000012 for more information as far as contamination and misdiagnosis and I also didn't see anyone here mention that when limited to idle only you can get it out of drate yourself at the dealership before diag begins usually the truck gets taken out of drate wich then lifts the idle only condition this usually 2 drive cycles I will obtain the drive cycle info and post it here as to hopefully help avoid the long drive to the dealership in idle only or the dreaded flat bed. also sorry for the multiple post guys I will keep all my thoughts to one post at a time from here out

I too, am a Ford dealership technician wrenching on Fords since 2000, Senior/Master/Diesel certified since 2007 have had one particular 2014 truck local to me, needing THREE DPF/SCR catalysts replaced. The only thing that stood out about this particular truck was the extremely high engine hour count to driven mileage ratio.

Hello all,

First timer here as well.

Sorry for long post

2016 ford f250 lariat 6.7 52,000 miles. Tuesday of this week on my way to work I received check engine and diesel exhaust system fault. Reduced to 50 mph in 50 miles. I was half way of a 65 mile commute. Turned around and headed home. Set an appointment l, and drove to dealership. When I started truck in driveway, check engine light was off and drove to dealership on freeway @ 80 mph with no issues.
talked to service writer and explained the situation. They were able to get it in right away.
diagnosis was contaminated fuel. Told me they took a sample of the fuel and lit it with a lighter and it ignited.
recommended dropping tank, flushing lines, replacing fuel filters, and change oil and oil filters. Received the quote for $1242.00. Okayed the work.
Picked up the truck the next day Wednesday, and everything seemed okay.
fast forward to this morning, 3 days later, drove to the next town, to run errands and received the check engine light, reduced to 50 mph after start up. Well, after start up, truck would only go to 50mph so drove it to local dealership.

Service writer pulled code and same code as before P207f. So, when I jumped in to start it to head home, again no check engine light and was able to drive 75+ on freeway with no issues. I have another appointment set for Tuesday.
