97' F-250 Engine Swap
The Heads on my 97' F-250 351w 4wd are done and I've found a good deal on an engine from a 95' F-150 351w 2wd so I've decided to swap the engines. The new engine has only 60k on it, I'm wondering if coming from a 2wd truck and going into a 4x4 is going to stop me form being able to swap them? I've never swapped an engine before are there any write ups you can link me to? It would be appreciated.

The engines should be the same. The emissions equipment and vacuum hoses might be different as well as some wiring associated with the emissions. Keep what’s in the 250 in those regards.
Other than that the 250 will have an oil cooler adapter over the filter base on the engine that the 150 may not. You could get by without the oil cooler but I can’t think of any good reason not to employ it.
I can’t think of anything else.

Oil cooler delete prevents the coolant from contaminating the oil in the event of a cooler failure. My 96 F150 had a cooler. Now it doesn't and I am able to use an FL1A filter instead of the smaller FL820S. Minor detail either way.
As stated, the 95 engine will work for you. Use the f250 wiring and emissions to keep it painless.
I don't know of a write up for the swap.
is your truck an auto or manual?

I mainly want the 95 f-150 for the engine, but I also would like to use it as a parts truck. In an earlier post I mentioned an issue I was having with engine surge, and I was hoping I could use parts from the 95 to eliminate possibilities on the 97'.

The computers are not the same and there is no reason to even think of swapping them. Keep the one already in the truck.
The donor truck could be MAF.....could make a good candidate for a MAF swap once you straighten out the existing issues. I would refrain from adding more complexity to the project at this point.
