I use Power Service Diesel Kleen + Cetane Boost. Good overall additive that adds lubricity to ULSD, detergents for injectors, and improves cetane number.
I've been running Stanadyne Performance Formula in every tank since my 2005 6.0L. Do I have any idea if it does any good? Not really. Nothing bad has happened either.
I've used Fords PM 22a since my truck was new, but I don't think it cleans injectors.
Just Strokin, are you saying that the 6.7 injectors do not need cleaning because they are Piezo electric?
I did a one time cleaner once and didnt really notice a difference. All last summer i used the Ford PM 22, seemed to help. I have since switched to Standadyne additives as you can cross mix them with no issues
I use Diesel Kleen especially after it's been setting for a while plus I do put StaBil in the tanks before going out of the country on jobs. Last time I got back from Argentina in November I had a minor rough idle issue, filled the tank with fuel and Diesel Kleen, then refilled the transfer tank with fuel and Diesel Kleen (80 Gallons) and then drove from Salt Lake to the Washington Coast and she runs as smooth as when I bought her.
Its really about carbon buildup around the injector stem and head. At 36000 PSI carbon will not buildup at the nozzle opening. Well filtered fuel with lubricity is the real concern for the injectors and pumps especially when using #2/ULSD.
I use PowerKleen and Essentiallube by Hydrotex its the same additives that we use in the all the garbage trucks at the company I work for . But to each is their own . Cheers
