new owner of sick 61 pickup

I just picked up this 61 E100 in sad shape. I am hoping with everyones help that i can bring her back to her former glory. Please do not hate for know some of you might think that she should be used as a parts truck, But when I went to go look at her I told her that if she would run that I would bring her back and with a fresh battery and a little fuel in tha carb it fired up. Go figure, so here we are. Notice the custom rear window that someone installed with sheet rock screws! ouch! Can anyone tell me the best place to get parts for her? I am in need of glass first of all to help keep the weather out. As you can see in the pictures the front tires were toast so I put used tires of the correct size on the front, but now it looks like a gasser for the front end is sitting really high. I would really like to talk to some of you that have restored one of these for this is my first one. Hopefully someone feels like talking about there trucks and send me a message. Please let me know what you think, any and all help will be much appreciated. neveridle

welcome to FTE, and congrats on the acquisition of what will eventually become a beautiful ride.
i would only call it "sad shape" because it was neglected. i have seen a few that were in much worse shape brought back to life.

Any good autoglass shop should be able to custom cut the back glass for you, and usually not too expen$ive.
A set of nice fresh wheels and tires, lose the box bars, a major clean up some cleaning of the chrome and brightwork a major mechanical going over to make it nice n' safe and reliable and perhaps some weathered looking signage painted, adjust the ride height, T'heck with "former glory" (heh heh) and you will have a nice n' sweet ride

Welcome to FTE

Find a Ford Shop Manual and Parts Manual, they print reproductions and on CD. Well worth the money. Armed with the part # you can search the online parts houses and auction sites, the shop manual has troubleshooting info and breaks down removal and replacement of everything step by step, task by task. Contains specifications, quantities, torque specs, voltages, etc. I've been turning wrenches for a while but I still learn things by consulting the manual, even simple repairs. Saves time and $$ and effects a better, long lasting repair. Cutting corners otoh, always seems to bite me in the ***, I've learned that much.

I've seen worse than that out on the road. They ain't building any more of 'em, so you gotta save what you find how you find. Good luck!

BTW, it's a Ford. OF COURSE it started! All they do is go.

The front bumper and brackets are from a 1965-1967 Econoline. It might have been swapped out. Maybe yours is not a 1961.

How about about some pics of the inside?
The 1961-1964 heater is bolted to the floor. 1965-1967 heater is off the floor, bolted to the passenger air vent.

lots of parts for these show up on eBay.
