Either would probably serve you well. If you don’t like it in a couple of years, the 5.0 will be easier to sell or trade.

The guys with 3.3s like them, nothing bad has been posted here that I can recall.

Mine did just fine yesterday with 3 cubic yards of compost in the back. I don't know what it weighed but I would guess at least 1000 pounds....

Whew!!! That truck must have been creaking and groaning lol. A quick google search suggests that compost weighs anywhere from 1000lbs-1600lbs per cubic yard (depending on moisture content).
.......Have any Youtube videos of your antics? Lol.

That's not 3 yards. It might've been 3 Bobcat buckets, but it's not 3 yards. That would be 81 cu.ft., and that won't even fit in an 8 ft. box unless you fill the corners/sides and then heap it to roughly the height shown. I have a 350 longbed and routinely haul soil, gravel etc. That's more like 2yds in the picture. If a landscape yard charged you for 3, you need to go back with a tape measure and a calculator, and ask to see the manager.

Aw c'mon, we know what you want and it takes more than 6 spark plugs to do a tune-up!!

It's a toss up...6qts per oil change vs 8. (It messes with my head). We will see what happens come the time. Highly dependent on availability and discounts. My wife shares your opinion...I tend to over think things.

Yes it definitely is 3 yards. You are really clueless if you think that's 3 Bobcat buckets. I watched the guy load it with a Cat loader. One bucket equals one cubic yard. After the third one he compressed it with the bucket so it wouldn't blow all over the road on my 17 mile drive home. I don't really appreciate you calling me a liar....

Eight feet long x 5.2 feet wide x 24 inches high is about exactly three cubic yards. Now we can argue about how much empty space is in the corners, or how high it might have been before it was "squashed down" but seems to me it's close enough to not be worth fighting about.

Thank you for that. I just rented a Bobcat a couple of weeks ago. Take a look at that dinky little bucket on it compared to the size of the truck bed. You can't even see it because it's hidden behind that small spare tire. I could probably fit 6 or 8 of those small buckets in there easily...

Like he said, both are solid engines.
All i would suggest is not matter what engine you go with, try to get the highest numerical (lowest geared) differentials that you can.
Especially if you get the new 10 speed transmission. Tenth gear is insanely tall, IMO too tall. So if you can get 3.73 gears great, at least 3.55 gears, not 3.31.

I didn't call you a liar, you did. I still maintain that's not 3 yards. It's not adequately compressed to qualify as such. I can tell by the lack of a flat spot on the pile. Also too much empty space in the corners/edges. I am a self-employed farmer and have 3 tractors with front-end buckets. A JD 2750, a Kubota 110 and a Case 580B backhoe. This ain't my first rodeo.

You said it's not 3 yards after I said it was so how did I call myself a liar? Are you senile or drunk or what? You're obviously not mature enough to admit when you make a mistake because it definitely is 3 cubic yards. I've been doing this for 30+ years and it's not my first rodeo either. You obviously have a very confrontational personality so in the future please don't respond to any of my comments. Is there some way that I can block this cranky old fart?

Wow, Thats how they do it! I always wondered how to get a full cord of wood in the 8 ft bed of a pickup, you mash it down!! Wheather it is compressed or not a physical space is only so big. Whether it is packed or not is beside the point. A Wheel barrow will only hold a third of a yard fuffy or compressed it cannot change it's dimension.

We are talking about engines here let's get back on track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm on my second 5.0. The first one was in a 2011 and went 127,000 miles with zero engine work. It had "the tick" at idle...I just rolled up the windows. I had a 2003 GMC Yukon that had minor piston slap. I never did anything about that one either. The last time I saw it the mileage was over 120k without problems.

I bought a 2018 5.0 ten days ago. 4 extra gears, and so far the mileage seems better than the 11. I'm very satisfied.
