What is this?

I was hunting around (in the dark) for my block heater plug and came across this. Passenger side above the headlight. Any ideas?

I wish the outside temp could always be displayed instead of outside or inside.

BTW, if it is indeed down by the bumper it has an extension kit added to it. If you run a winter cover like I do if you leave the sensor in the original position by the headlight it will read wrong so they make a extension kit which moves the sensor down by the bumper so it see's unobstructed outside air to give you a proper reading. Been there>done that.

Interesting. Just ordered a cover. You happen by chance have a part number for the extension?

Mine always shows outside air temp, haven't changed it in years, on MY heater controls there is a button marked EXT I think (sorry trucks at home in the drive, going by memory) push that and see what happens.

Mine does that. But soon as I adjust the inside temp it goes away.

Mine always shows outside temp. Maybe it's the difference in the type of HVAC system you have?

Possibly. My truck is a Lariat. Has the full electronic HVAC controls.

***Figured it out. Ext temp does go away when temp is adjusted but after a few seconds it comes back. Never knew that before. Thanks.

Wow just looked up the sensor ext. $75. That’s more then I paid for the cover. Might have to see if there is another way around this.
