Just trying to see if a good idea to carry a spare or not,i have never had one, only had one power board give trouble years ago and just replaced it and kept going.
I just monitor voltage of the FICM and will worry about replacing it when it shows signs of decline. In the mean time I'll keep ensuring my batteries and alternator are doing their jobs.
nope, but I have the Bullett Proof 6-phase which spreads out the work load vs. the 4 phase. Always have my ScanGauge plugged in and one of the values always monitors the FICM voltage. I stayed at the 48 volt setting

A few months after getting my truck I had the FICM go bad. Didn't know much about these trucks then. Got a refab unit. It lasted 1 month past its warranty. I then started doing research about the FICMs and found an aftermarket Techsmart board for about $90-100. I figured, even if it lasted just a year and I replaced it once a year, I was spending less than half what I spent on the refab unit which lasted a year. I then did the resolder job on my refab unit and tested it. Then put in the Techsmart and put the resoldered one in the box and on a shelf for a backup. Three years later, still running the Techsmart and it's still running like it was a new board.
