OK well lucky you, but how many miles? Also in a van there is probably more engine bay heat than in a truck/exped/excur.

I hope you do something soon. Here's a comment on one of the recommended set of coils,"Not OE form factor but still a bargain!
The notch for the locking tab is too small on these coils so the connectors do not snap and lock when installed. I decided to use zip ties to ensure secure connections. After 500 miles, 2 of these coils began to fail after reaching operating temp. I was able to get them replaced for free under warranty. We shall see how long the rest of them last. For the price I may buy another set just to keep as run away spares!"
You should feel right at home. The solution for your misfire will reveal something interesting I'm sure. Good Luck!

you know, swapping parts and the problem doesn't move. New parts not making any difference. You must feel like you are in the Twilight Zone, a real mystery for sure. The fix, that you'll ultimately discover, will be a stunner.

Ok I understand now. I believe I’ve already addressed you about typed sarcasm. It should be openly and clearly sarcastic, and it should be clearly identifiable as humor or malicious. Yours failed both tests.

OK, understood. I'll just watch from the sidelines. 2018 is a new year.

Does the guy who sold you the new van still have the 2nd one? How about just buying the other one and putting a bullet in the V10 after taking off the tires? As I recall, you had other problems with it also, and assuming you're paying for your own gas now, you may save the whole price of the 2nd van in a couple years...

In my book, time is money, and it sure seems like you could be spending your time doing actual work instead of nursing along a dying old van...

Happy New Year,
George

A few hours ago the CEL came on and indicated cylinder 2

Nice! That means the misfire followed that coil. so I changed it with a new cheap-o unit from AutoZone and now I’m going on a test drive.
Starts and idles very nice and smooth. I’m optimistic!

My test Drive was short but flawless! About 3 or 4 miles to the grocery store and back.
Absolutely flawless.
Nice!

Oh please, it's always best to actually determine the failure point and spend $'s only on that than to just replace all 10 *****-nilly.

My 2001 V10, around 60K miles, but lots of high-temp idling/pulling whole trees in Upstate NY and on Long Island in 90+ degree heat, and no coil failures.

reps to you.
And now that I own 18 cylinders' worth of these coils, I will almost certainly try the whole set of cheap coils.

for sake of accuracy though; I received mixed signals. At one point the misfire did not follow the coil. But then most recently it did.
it's a mystery.

60K miles, of course the coils are still good in your van so your point is invalid but nice try. His van has crazy high miles, is over 10 years old. One more of his coils has gone bad, so why waste time trying to replace the one when ALL THE REST are on they're way out, guaranteed. Dude owns a race car which is a luxury and costs a lot of money but wont spend the $50 on ebay to put 10 all new coils in it. LOL!!!
