1963 flareside. Former military? VIN Help...
Well, I picked up this 63 f100 today. It has no motor, trans or steering but is cool and VERY solid. You basically do not find trucks this rust free in the salt belt where I live. I did find the VIN on the frame...
F10JR340055.
There is no plate in the glovebox and the doors are not original to the truck; either is the hood. I am wondering if this is a former military truck. The truck is basically a yellow but under the paint, it is all olive drab green. There is also a T-P 32 painted on the dash (pic below). I do realize that in it's life, someone could have just sprayed it olive drab but it's weird they would have gone as far as painting things on the dash...and also painting the inside of the cab, inner fenders, etc.
I have been much more of a 53-56 F100 guy and this is my first venture into the 61-66 trucks. Any help on what I have here is appreciated.

That tailgate's a beauty. From what I understand they're near impossible to find in any kind of shape no less good shape. Mines a little smashed up and had already been repaired once (sheetmetal welded onto the outside because it was in a state of disrepair 20 years ago), hoping I can get it halfway straightened out.

I have the equivalent truck from the Navy circa 1965. I addition to the dashboard decals shown in post 9 check to warranty plate if present for the DSO code. Code 83 equates to government which would also authenticate it's origin. Appears to have been built for the Army as a "TMP" or administrative use vehicle.
