Need new glow plugs 85 Ford F-250 6.9 IDI DIESEL

does anyone have any suggestions on glow plugs? I want to make sure Iím not getting some low end ones that could screw me over in the end.

Also, does anyone have a good manual they use for this engine?

thanks!

Make sure you only buy Motorcraft or International brand plugs. They will have the name Beru printed on the plug. They are the proper original plugs and will not swell on the tips and break off in the cylinders.

X2

I bought Motorcrafts from RockAuto to replace the bad glowplugs in my IDI. I was very careful about removing the old ones because I read horror stories about the tips breaking off. I soaked the old glowplugs with PB Blaster for a week working them back and forth little by little. When I got them all out withou incident I noticed the Beru name on them.

X3 on the Motorcraft/Beru's.

I would use the Ford manuals, you can find them from Bishko on RockAuto or Dave Graham on eBay in CD's.

Do you mean the glow plug controller on the back of the driver's head or the relay on the passenger's fender?

If it's working ok leave it. If it's one lesson I have learned in this day and age, new is not always better. There is a lot of junk being made lately.

That's sound advice.

I was just wondering because I am replacing the controller on my IDI since I am doing some major work to it.

I tested my glow plugs before I removed them per Festus' instructions on our site. They tested bad. Since I bought the truck the glow plugs have never worked right. I have some work to do.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread.

relay on fender is a relay.
controller is a controller.
the switch wears in proportion to the plugs, and one csn affect the other.
