I was going to post up a thread just like this. I'm sold on the F150 but dont know how long an ECO-Boost lasts.

I had a 2018 F-150 Crew 4x4 for 10 days while my 2011 Tundra was in the body shop. I liked the Eco-Boost but I put on a LOT of miles and do a LOT of heavy towing (my Tundra has 310,000 kms and is running strong). Based on what I'm seeing, there is no reason not to consider a 3.5 Eco-Boost when I retire my Tundra at 400,000 kms. Mileage wise, it did 14.4 L/100 kms (based on the fuel I added and distance I drove - the computer claimed 12.8) and that included at least an hour of idling. My Tundra would have been closer to 15.5 L/100 kms for the same type of driving.

I am on a different F150 forum and there is a user over there that is a tractor deatler. He had a 2012 first gen 3.5 Eco that he claimed to have 200,000 miles with alm ost all of them pulling a gooseneck flatbed trailer with a tractor and grossing 12,000 lbs. He pulled to and from farm shows. Mileage was about 8 or 9 MPG but this is pulling a max load almost constantly. I do know he bought a second truck set up exactly the same in 2015 because he was so happy with that one.

2.7EB Lifted

Going on three years, Lifted with 35" tires running a
SCT 91Oct Tune & Dual Catch can.
17K no issues, just the recall on the doors.
Avg. 15-17city 21-23HWY. on 35"tires
That little 2.7 Keeps Impressing the hell out of me.
The only wear & Tear I'm starting to see is my drivers
seat from me slide in & out from being lifted.

My only cons:
are the weak head lights. I had to replace them with the brightest
LEDs I can find. other than that,
very happy with Ford's F150

2016 2.7 crew cab. Just bought it about 4 days ago. Had 31K miles on it. Go figure - it hasn't hit 32K yet! :-) Love it so far. Bought it to replace my 07 4Runner.

i have a 2017 3.5. Originally was looking for a 2.7 for fuel economy when my 3.5 surfaced w a price tag i couldn't refuse.
Here's my lack of understanding, ive heard the term Blow by but not sure what that is, can you explain?

Thanks!

Blow by generally refers to gas that escapes past the piston rings and into the crank case. It "usually" includes some oil, and so the PCV system will pick up some oil. "Significant" in this case is somewhat subjective, and how much is too much will be in the eye of the beholder. IMO, a few tablespoons per 1000 miles is not a big deal, but the next guy might feel entirely different.
