Thanks. Its a little confusing. Now I'll ask a couple questions. Why does all the paper work call my truck a F151. Can't find any information on it. Next I work machine maintenace but never worked on a truck. I believe the carborator needs rebuilt. Is it something I can do?

Yes I said F151. That is what I found confusing. Streight truck not 4x4. Plain jane. I have an owner card with a metel strip that looks like the vin number and also calls it F151.

Welcome to the motley crew.

This is supposed to be for introductions and pictures only.

Please start another thread to talk about your truck.

Maybe Scott can clean up this thread please?

Just has to do with the moron who originally put your truck in the states DMV system...
Here in Washington my 1980 F-100 is listed as an F-1 which ford hasn't made since the early Fifties.

Welcome to the forums.

Split from Mugshots thread.

Welcome Lizzy! Thanks for joining us in the '80-'86 forum.

The venerable F-151 now has it's own thread.

F 151

My 1978 has F151 on the plate on the driver's door. It also had it on the title. I will have to take a picture and post it.

Not my truck but an example of F151 on the VIN plate.

Models of 1978-79 F150, F151 "heavy" 1/2 ton

Models[edit]
  • F100 F101 F102 F103 F104 F105 F106 F107 F108 F109 F10N: 1/2 ton (4,550–5,700 GVWR max)
  • F110 F111 F112 F113 : 1/2 ton (4×4)(5,250–6,500 GVWR max)
  • F150 F151 : "heavy" 1/2 ton (6,050–6,200 GVWR ma6,050–6,500 GVWR max)
  • F250 F251 F252 F253 F254 F255 F256 F257 F258 F259: 3/4 ton (6,200–8,100 GVWR max)
  • F260 F261 F262 F263 F264 F265 F266: 3/4 ton (4×4) (6,500–8,400 GVWR max)
  • F350 F350 F351 F352 F353 F354 F355 F356 F357 F358 F359 F35P: 1 ton (6,000–10,000 GVWR max)
  • F-360: 1 ton (4×4) (8,550 GVWR max)
The GVWR ratings for these trucks was tied to a combination of wheel, spring, axle and brake combinations. The series code on the ID tag denotes which model and from that it can be determined what weight rating each vehicle has. 4×4 trucks can also be identified by the Vehicle Identification Number and on the ID plate as a serial number. For example, F10 is an F-100 2-wheel drive, but F11 is an F-100 4×4, and so on. Serial numbers beginning with an "X" are SuperCab models

No such thing as an F151. People see TYPE/GVW F151 printed on the Certification Label, think it's an F151 but it isn't.

All an F151 is...is an F150 2WD Regular Cab Pickup w/a 250 lbs. increase of the GVWR

1980/82 TYPE/GVW F151 = F150 2WD Pickup, 5,450 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

1980/82 TYPE/GVW F150 = F150 2WD Pickup; 5,200 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
