Slight trace of fuel in oil sample

Sent a sample off to BlackStone for my '13 6.2 with 55k on it. They said there was a slight trace of fuel in the oil but not enough to worry about right now. Is there anything a guy can do to eliminate the fuel contamination or is that just something you have to deal with direct injection?

ETA. Most of my driving is shorter distances(10-15miles one way) and during part of the last oil change the temps were around zero and below. I try not to idle much but it does happen. If memory serves me correctly I think I have around 1500 idle hours in the 55k that's on the engine.

Drive farther on a trip or 2 especially when cold out, getting the oil up to operating temp for a longer period will help evaporate it out of the oil.

its not the engine fault..

it's your driving style/life..... drive longer or change oil more often...

cold engine has not heated up to SEAL the piston rings... and rich/cold mixture is getting past cold piston rings... Normal and Common.... for S H O R T drives.

and fuel injection has nothing to do with it... Carburetors also did this.
but injection has better control.

Plan on driving a few more miles per trip to heat engine/fluids up or plan on at least once a week hit the road and rack up some miles.

10 miles is one of the longer ways to work(I only live 6 miles from work)but I guess I could take the longest way around which would be 15 miles one way. I try to get out on the weekends and put a few more miles on it but even then I'm usually only going 15-20 miles one way.

I do change my oil every 3000 miles so hopefully that helps.

Sounds perfectly normal for the driving you do. And I bet the last drive cycle before you did the sample was a short one

Is no one going to tell this guy that the 6.2 isn't direct injection?

A little fuel contamination is normal during the winter months and your winter sounds like it's extreme cold.

Sample again during the summer and I bet it goes away.

If your changing every 3000, you could actually get quitE a bit of fuel in the oil before it's a problem. Don't worry about it.

And there is the crux of the samples. When you get a bad one, nobody does anything anyways. I use them to drum up fuel polishing (500g generator tanks) and coolant flushes. When an oil sample comes back odd, we rarely do anything.

Didn't know that. I assumed all the Ford engines were direct injection now. Thanks for the correction.
