Slight trace of fuel in oil sample
Sent a sample off to BlackStone for my '13 6.2 with 55k on it. They said there was a slight trace of fuel in the oil but not enough to worry about right now. Is there anything a guy can do to eliminate the fuel contamination or is that just something you have to deal with direct injection?
ETA. Most of my driving is shorter distances(10-15miles one way) and during part of the last oil change the temps were around zero and below. I try not to idle much but it does happen. If memory serves me correctly I think I have around 1500 idle hours in the 55k that's on the engine.

its not the engine fault..
it's your driving style/life..... drive longer or change oil more often...
cold engine has not heated up to SEAL the piston rings... and rich/cold mixture is getting past cold piston rings... Normal and Common.... for S H O R T drives.
and fuel injection has nothing to do with it... Carburetors also did this.
but injection has better control.

I do change my oil every 3000 miles so hopefully that helps.

A little fuel contamination is normal during the winter months and your winter sounds like it's extreme cold.
Sample again during the summer and I bet it goes away.

If your changing every 3000, you could actually get quitE a bit of fuel in the oil before it's a problem. Don't worry about it.
And there is the crux of the samples. When you get a bad one, nobody does anything anyways. I use them to drum up fuel polishing (500g generator tanks) and coolant flushes. When an oil sample comes back odd, we rarely do anything.
