2017’s Fuel Tank Capacity
I’m getting close to trading my 2014 Super Duty on a 2017. The question I forgot to ask at the dealer yesterday is, has Ford increased the tank size on the 250’s with a 6’ box? The small fuel tank on my 14 hasn’t been a problem, just an aggravation. To add to this question, if the small tank is still installed on the short beds, what aux tanks have been put in the beds to increase capacity?
Thanks
Brian

I have yet to get more than 42 gal in my 48 gal tank.

I had thought about ordering that once — about as long as it took me to realize the 55 gallons would subtract 330lbs of payload from my truck( plus the weight of the Titan tank.)

About 125 pounds from your payload for the extra 21 gallons. 330 is for the full fuel load, so without the 204 pounds of OEM tank, the payload is really meaningless (What does it matter how much it can haul if the tank is empty). As for the weight of the tank, it is nearly the same foot print as the OEM (Length and Width), it is mainly depth where it picks up the volume (I think it hangs about 3 inches lower), is the weight difference is around a strip of plastic, 3 inches tall, by about 14 foot long (I realize this is a oversimplification of the tank design, but the tank weight difference is going to be negligible)

My mind was doing the math of the weight of 89 gallons of gas. LOL

My concern with them is, they hang down lower, so you cannot use the factory skid plate. Which means it is hanging lower than normal and unprotected. I've lost a muffler on a car in the past to a piece of tire, ever since I have been concerned about what happens when they hit something important.

Titan does make in bed units auxiliary units, but the 55 is a replacement for the factory tank.

The Titan 55 gallon hangs 1-3/4" lower than stock, and is about 2' longer. There are a couple pics on the page, and more in the installation instructions from the link on the page. Hanging a bit lower would be one of my minor concerns as well.
