One Day in Salt Lake City; What Would You Do?

I’ll be passing through Salt Lake City next summer and we’re starting to finalize our travel plans. Expect to spend two nights in town, so we have a full day to explore the city.

Any recommendations for things to do? Especially with kids? We enjoy all the normal stuff, but are big foodies.

Leave the city and go explore one of the canyons/mountains. There's a bunch to choose from. I live in Utah County (near Provo) and there's American Fork Canyon or Provo Canyon (Bridal Veil Falls, Sundance Resort, etc). Another good option would be to go up and explore Park City.

Or you could go check out the Great Salt Lake...Antelope Island would be a good way to do that.

There are lots if things to do. The canyons and surrounding areas are beautiful. Are you looking for outdoorsy stuff to do or wanting to stay more in the city. Lots of good resteraunts to try. There are a few big ones to check out. Red iguana has some really good Mexican food and is very popular. It is also close to downtown. Salt lake biscuits and limade is a new place with some delicious food centered around biscuits. If you go there the hoss is amazing. Check out female foodies blog. She used to live in salt lake and has a lot of good recommendations. Ruth's diner is up a canyon near the city. Not too far away and had pretty good food and pretty views.

I think if I went to Utah the canyons would be top on the list.
The slot canyons give some cool photos if you avoid any rains up in the hills.
