1948 Ford F1 Gas Pedal ?

Well another question. I take 10,000 pics and didn't take one of the gas pedal. I can see how the linkage goes into the cab, then I assume the pedal is bolted down, but... Is the small **** on the top of the gas pedal just slip into that spring loaded piece at the end of the linkage? are there any other springs required or pieces to that besides the boot? I cant find a pic anywhere online with details. Any help or pics would be great!!

Either 48s were different from 52s, or someone made some mods to yours. Yours will obviously work, just put it together as you described.

This is the typical setup:

WOW - thank you for the pictures, Ross. I was absolutely damn sure some shade tree mechanic attempted to repair a broken linkage at my Truck simply with a spring wrapped around it. Was really about to weld that together again - and already wondered if it would align properly after doing so....

So how does the “correct typical” setup shown in that post attach to the pedal!?

The typical pedal doesn't have that ball on the back but has a rubber socket on the back that the ball on the linkage snaps into.

So it looks like all I have to do is take that small weldied end off. And get the spring and ball set up, and get a different gas pedal. I’d rather Do it right the first time. Thanks for the info.

To be honest, what you have will work and to put yours back to "correct" could be tricky. Do you have a V8 or flat-6?

It looks as though The previous owner just added that small link Peace to where the old spring would have been. I am thinking a spring, a ball, and a gas pedal will match right up.

It has a flathead 6. I have looked at the v8 and those are definitely different.

Mine just has a "stump" coming out of the floor..... no ball on the end though. I KNOW someone modded it at some point.

On the "stump" should be a spring and push rod available at Macs.

Thanks for that.
My stump's pretty worn after all these years. I'm guessing that
spring slides over it on one end and the ball piece slides into it
on the other side and attaches to the gas pedal.

Exactly. I drove mine for years with only the stump. With the spring and rod the peddle is higher with more movement before you are flooring it!
