It would be great if I could see the shackle & hangers. The perches too, if you can. I'm not sure if I understand what issue you had about the width.
Also what size rims are you running in the rear?
when the shackles were mounted on the frame I had to pry the the springs into the mounts, a search indicated another member also had to narrow the mounts to make it work, the tire size is 31 10.50 15 I believe the ford rims have a 4" backspace. hope this helps.
I have one truck with Dakota leafs and one with s10 springs and ranger hangers. The s10 springs worked the best because they were shorter than the Dakota and the explorer as well. I had to relocate the rear most running board mounts but then you can put the springs wherever you want to get the ride height set. Keep in mind different springs have different axle locating pin positions which dictates fore and aft placement. My signature has both build threads.
If you're asking a question, you'd be better off starting a new thread. You posted this in my thread that is about a specific issue with explorer springs.
