Goose ball cover removal ???

I just spent half an hour trying to remove the cover from my factory installed goose neck receiver. The ball was in a year ago, and all went smoothly with the removal and cover. Now, I can't even pry it out!! WHAT ARE THE MAGIC WORDS ?? Any suggestions appreciated!

Is there a pin underneath that needs to be pulled?

If not, penetrating oil and a hammer.

No pin, Press fit. The ball has a twist and lock, though.

That's just a plastic cap, isn't it? That is all mine is. Did someone stick it in with silicone?

Sounds like the locking ball(s)(not sure if one or two) are frozen in the locking position. I would contact Reese Customer Service and see if they have a solution.

In the mean time I would position the lock in the in unlocked position and then spray it with something like PB Blaster a few times a day in hopes it will free up. You might also try vibrating it with an air chisel with something to protect the ball.

The plastic cover should just pry out easily with a flat blade screwdriver. If that isn't working, you may be able to crawl under the truck and drive it out using a long punch or a piece of 2x2 or large dowel. Another thought just occurred to me is to make sure that you are only trying to remove the flat plug and not the rounded "donut ring" that seals between the puck and the bed.
