Broken glow plug and won't start.

i was replacing my glow plugs on my '97 f350 powerstroke today and everything went real good --until the very last glow plug. It came apart and left the inner part in the block. There was about an inch of it outside that I was able to put my visegrips on until I see what I need to do. I sure would appreciate some good information on how to get the bottom of the glow plug out. I just replaced my fuel pump cause my truck was running great and all of a sudden my accelerator felt like air -- it just died. It still hasn't started. I had these glow plugs and value cover gasket so I figured while my truck was down that I would put them in. If it were for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck. Lol. Your help would be greatly appreciated. 🤠

Damn autolites! Too bad the truck doesn't run, maybe you could blow it out if it did.

spin it with the vice grips while spraying penetrating oil on it and working up and down until it wears the swollen area down where it will come out.
start by buying a new pair of "vice grip" brand pliers so you have good teeth and no slipping.

That's a lot better than trying to take everything apart. Lol. I really appreciate all of your responses. I started out with my original problem of my truck dying and I found algae in my fuel filter and had to replace my fuel pump, filter and it still didn't start and I've been procrastinating about putting these other parts in until my truck was down and now a new problem with this glow plug and it would have to be the last plug. Thank you for all the advise and Happy Thanksgiving 🦃.

I can't get a regular vise grip on it, but I've got an off brand needle-nose vise grip that can get in there and I've sprayed Kroil down on it and I'm gonna give it a little time to start working but my thinking is -and you can tell me what you think- I've got a 1600 watt heat gun and I thought about heating the area around the glow plug and maybe get the block to expand a little and maybe just maybe it will allow that plug to ease on out. What is yalls thinking on this. 😳

oh I wish there was an easier way to get it out besides removing the head. What's your thinking on my last text about heating up the area where the plug hole is to get the steel to expand. 😏

Remove the rocker arms/push rods and injector then you'll have the needed room

I wouldn't worry about heating it. The kroil and working it with the vice grips should do the trick. Let the kroil soak good and try moving it with the vice grips.

that's what I'm doing now, letting the kroil do it job. I sprayed it about five minutes ago and I think I'm gonna spray it once more and then try twisting it back and for until the swollen part gives in. Lol. I really appreciate the advice and if it works I'll sure let y'all know. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
