Well shoot, another accident.... (Update: back from shop)

Well shoot, not a great afternoon yesterday. Driving through a parking lot, driver didn't stop at stop sign and clipped front of truck. Luckily no injuries which is the important thing.

Other driver was elderly and had other medical issues, probably shouldn't have been driving in the first place. This is the second time I've been hit by an elderly driver.

Police were EXCELLENT in response and professionalism. Other driver was cited and at fault.

Used a come along hooked to another truck to pull the bumper away from tire and get it home. Bummer for sure. Just glad that everyone was OK. Alignment was way off on drive home.

Dealing with insurance now. I know truck will never be the same after repairs. May be time to trade it in as have been kicking around the idea of an 15+ Screw with 2.7EB.....

Will keep you posted.

Sorry about your luck and hopefully the other drivers medical condition isn't too serious. Unfortunately you see things like that all the time in parking lots. Too many people who normally obey traffic laws and "rules of the road" loose all common sense when they get into a large parking lot.

I'd guess that some bodywork and a new steering rack, and possibly some suspension parts, and that truck would be good as new, but I can understand the concern.

I hope it all works out for you!

Robb, sorry to hear this happened AGAIN

As for the lick taken, doesn't appear to be too hard, I kinda agree w/Sooner & feel it would ultimately be OK. BUT, I also understand where your coming from & would definitely feel the same way myself, if it was more severe. Either way I'll back ya, when u tell your wife u must get a new truck now

Oh & thanks for mentioning "Police were EXCELLENT in response and professionalism"

I just got mine back after getting hit at the end of September. I say as long as there isn't any frame damage it can be as good as new

I don't know about that 2.7 liter deal with that plastic oil pan and plastic drain plug. Love to know who designed that???

I’ve had a few close calls like that. Glad everyone is okay. Seems like a good excuse to use the insurance money to upgrade the front bumper...

Sorry to hear about the accident Robb. Glad to know that everyone was ok and uninjured. As for the truck, the damage appears to be relatively minor; at least from what I can see anyway. That's what we have insurance and bodyshops for. Do your homework and find a good, reputable bodyshop in your area; and make sure they use OEM parts. If it was me, I'd keep the truck. Like Russ said, this is merely a flesh wound.

Appreciate the kind words guys! Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Quick update - there is an excellent body shop locally that I dropped my truck off Wednesday. The did an "initial" estimate of repairs to be in the 5k range. This doesn't include other damage they might find when they dig into it such as the steering rack if it was damaged.

Looks like it will be a 10 day turnaround if just the parts originally quotes. The folks there are good.

Will keep everyone posted.

Thanks again

I highly doubt the steering rack itself is damaged. It's amazing how much abuse they can take. Now inner and outer tie rods might be a different story. And they are a bolt on items. My professional guess is outer tie rod and the lower control slide and needs readjusted.

Check what insurance will pay, then drive by the dealer and see what they will give as a trade in value before you fix it. I traded in my 2013 F150 that got hit in the rear bedside and made about $2500. They offered $20K before it was hit then said they would knock off $2K for the damage, and insurance paid $4500.
