I'm bringing a 1978 F250 back to life and I just pulled the drain plug on the T18 it has and was met by a wall of foul, black jelly. I had to poke and prod to get it loose enough to drain. So, now...
I'm assuming my best option would be to put the plug back, fill it with ATF and let it sit for a day, drain and repeat until it's clean? What's the best way to flush this bad boy? It's been sitting for at least 8 years - not sure how long it had been since a flush.
The best way to clean it out would be to tear it apart and hand scrub all the yuck out with something like kerosene. While you have it apart, you can rebuild it with a rebuild kit.
