Based on history, you might see a mid-cycle change in late 2018 or early 2019. Perhaps a major redesign in 2021 or 2022. But nothing earth-shattered before then. The P552 (F150) will have a major redesign in 2020, IIRC, which is 2.5 years away. The P558 would follow any P552 major redesign a year or two later (most of the time it's two years).

We build the HVAC unit for 80% of all North American market Ford and Lincoln light (150 - 450) & medium duty (450 chassis and 550; not sure about 650) trucks and cars. Our company was started 5 years ago when we purchased all of the production assets from Ford's Sheldon Road Assembly Plant where they used to make most of the HVACs for FLM. Many of the key engineers & most of the workers came over to work for us. So what I share above is based on quite a bit of Ford production history.

HVAC is one of the reasons I'm once again considering Ford. Both of my Rams had to have their evaporators replaced, which requires a dash drop (the 2005 is getting it done as I type this - I had been putting it off for several years), and the airflow has always been on the weak side. My F-150s never had HVAC issues, although they had other probs of their own.

The most likely scenario for me would be at some point in 2019 - either a late MY19 or an early MY20 as long as the money works out as I expect. My rental while the Ram is in the shop is a '17 Expedition EL, and I really like the seating position compared to the Ram. I'm probably going to bruise an Achilles on the running boards, though... always seem to bang the back of my ankles on them getting out, because they stick out farther than the step tubes on my Ram.

Lets just hope Ford gets their act in gear and at LEAST puts the B&O stereo in the 2019 Super Duty, if not wifi, and possibly smartphone remote start like their F150 does which "shares the same cab" (Ford is off their rocker that the 2018 super duty didn't get the B&O)

I have to say I sat in a 2017 super duty, and compared it back to back with the 2018 F150 with the B&O, and the stereo difference alone said its worth waiting for.

Great news, thanks for sharing!!

Josh

If one keeps waiting for the latest and greatest one will never get anything new. Just sayin.

Think of all the money you save! It's kept me in my current truck and hopefully can pay cash when I do pull the trigger... If I ever pull the trigger

The problem is, that the more cash that you save, the harder it is to spend it because you worked so hard to get to that point.

There is a lot of truth to that, however I absolutely will not purchase a 10 speed until they have at least 3 years under their belt fixing problems so my drop dead year is the 2019. I will be getting the 2019 with or without the B&O if the 2020 does indeed get the 10 speed. (Not because I don't want the ten speed, I actually think it would be sweet, I just work in product development and know to never buy at least the first two years of a new transmission or engine development, I actually work next to a guy who tuned transmissions at FORD who said the exact same thing)

It will be interesting to see how how much of the transmission will carry over from the F-150. I'm hoping all the bugs will get worked out in the next three years before Ford puts it in the super duty.

Has anyone else been able to verify this 2019 production information? My local dealer had not heard about this either...

Mine has! Had to have the entire system replaced in the early summer of 2016 in my 2002 F-150. Forgot what crapped out, but it contaminated the entire system requiring it all get replaced to the tune of about $1400.

This reminds me of a saying a Old-timer told me many Years ago when I was in the Air force.
He asked when We were going to have Kids, I told him we couldn't afford Kids yet. He said if You wait until You think you can afford them, you will never have Kids.
sorry its off topic.

So it seems that the 7X engine and 10 speed transmission will probably show in late 2019 as 2020 MY.

If I was getting the 6.2, I might chance a first-year 10 speed transmission. I would not with the 6.7. Not only does the 6.7 have about 2x the torque on the transmission front, it doesn't really need more gears. A 6.2 with 10 gears would tow better for sure.

I'm very curious about this thread. I've been going around and around from diesel to gas and everything in-between to waiting 4 more months to order a 2019...
