gas burner to diesel fuel system

Hello,I have looked and looked and just can't find the info I'm looking for,so here it goes.
I have a 1979 F350 crew cab, that has a built 460,t18+spicer 6041 4spd aux trans and Dana 70 4.10.I want to install a 7.3idi with a after market turbo.Installing the engine is no problem, but I have some questions on the supporting fuel system in the chassis of the truck, all of which is new.It has a factory cab&chassis plastic tank in the rear and new side tank(steel) in front with a manual hand switching valve between them ,new 3/8 lines and sending units to the engine. What changes do I have to make to system to support the 7.3?

3/8" metal lines or 3/8" rubber lines? If rubber, you might want to check to see if that stuff is diesel rated.

I suspect the fuel pickup should work from a gasser. I know that I bought a gasser fuel pickup for my IDI van (here's the link to the tutorial), because my van has a different pickup than the truck. The gasser fuel tank resistor has similar range as the IDI van, but the truck has a different resistance for the IDI. So, if you are using the stock gasser resistance, you won't be able to run a standard IDI Ford gauge, because the resistance will be off.

I don't know if the 460 gasser fuel pickup had the awful "cone of failure," but if it did, you might as well pull that off now and replace it with a section of hose.

You'll need to plumb for fuel return lines to the tanks. If the diesel pickup/senders for an IDI will fit in the tanks, you can plumb right to the return barb on those. As genscripter said, make sure all hose used is diesel rated.

Hi again, all of the lines are steel, and the rear tank was a diesel tank. The more I read the more I think I will have to replace the side tank with an 80s plastic side tank.I can run the returns down the pass side of the frame and change the sending unit in the back and be good to go then.

IIRC, you'll need a diesel fuel tank selector too, since I believe it ensures the return fuel goes to the same tank it came from.
