Has anyone swapped steering wheels?

I looked all over to see if anyone has done this or mentioned it.

On my 3 1/2 hour drive home my hands were cramping all up from holding onto the tiny diameter steering wheel. All of my other vehicles have thicker steering wheels and I haven't had a problem with my hands on them. I know I know old guy problems......haha

Just looking to see if there is a common swap to a Ford steering wheel or any other ideas?

Thanks!

I was going to use the steering wheel from a 1987-1991 F150. Looks like it will fit

This steering wheel is a direct swap. It is found on more upscale models [XLT, Bronco, vans, etc.].

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for one of those wheels in the junk yards.

I don't thing a cover will add much to it. I'll have to measure mine and see what the diameter is because it feels like 1/2 the diameter of some of my other vehicles.

There are different versions of steering wheel covers, some are larger than others, some have nubs on them, some lace on, some are leather, some are vinyl.

Why change the steering wheel when you can install a cover on it?

And, I'd be willing to bet that by installing a 1987 or later wheel, the Speed Control switch (if present) in the horn pad won't be compatible, plus there probably other parts that are different.

Does your truck have cruise control? As stated, the switches may be different.

Yeah it has the cruise control buttons but i'll never use them. I'm not a big fan of cruise control because I get sleepy not controlling the throttle.
