I'd love to see a IDS graph after your done. I keep telling people you can rebuild them at home, but keep getting told you can't because you need to flow test them. I call BS..

I dont have IDS, But I do have Torque Pro and Forscan. I will be able to see of my cylinder imbalance code goes away. And, I can tell you there are not that many moving parts to these. I have rebuilt much tougher. Transmissions, carburetors, Engines, Boat motors, etc.. There is nothing hard about these, at all. That I can tell. what the heck would flow testing do for you anyway, there are no adjustments, that I can see, that you could correct with. I cant wait to fire them up, fingers crossed. First transmission I rebuilt, I was told to leave it to the profesionals. lol. It worked like new when I was done. Its all about paying attention to detail. If you want my 2 cents.

Nit sure on that. I am sort of thinking a finer finish like when polishing
a flat mirror or lens might be in order. The only way to know for sure
would be to open up a new unused Ford reman.
Also you may want to be sure that the surfaces remain parallel.

I know where you can get a VCM2 with IDS

The thoughts about a flow test are sound in the face that the tolerances
are so close that a bad intensifier or sticking spool valve should show up.
But I think it would also show up with IDS on a uncompensated power
balance test.

what is a "vcm2 with ids" you got my attention. as far as the injector finish, I watched a video of the actual ford reman injectors, i dont think they where mirror finish? they where circular ground. I'll watch it again. cant hurt. As for dimensions on the plates. I dont think I'm taking that much off. but maybe. We will see, its gonna be a fun ride.

IDS or Integrated Diagnostic System is the software that is used.
VCM2 is the interface box that goes between the service computer and the truck.

If you go to a Ford shot that is what they use. You get things that can be like this.

For testing the turbo.

Or this for the power balance.

That is in the photo so you know how large the brush set is. I found that using
the 303-D111 aka pine cone brush first and then the 303-D112 aka broom to
finish up with gives the best job.The pine cone takes all the crap off the walls
and the broom cleans the seal seat and seems to pickup all the crud that falls
off in the process. Between bores I (just me) like to use the air nozzle to blow off
the brushes so I start clean for each hone.

I think I have some bore scope photos of dirty and clean stages. Also in the upper
half of the bore you will find the fuel gallery.

I'll post the other photos later after I pick out the best ones. Need to trim it down from 67 photos.

Let me know if you can get into this gallery with this link.

Great pics. I did get one of those scopes. I havent climbed my truck to look in the bores yet. Now I have an idea what go expect. Thanks Yahiko.

Following. Hope your foot is doing ok, make sure to give it the rest it needs.

Any updates on the injector rebuild?

I'll be doing this in the near future, and have enjoyed watching your progress!

Got all the injectors done! Fixing to work on the cups. Keeping my fingers crossed. If nothing else, we will all learn a lesson at my expense! lol.

Pics coming!

this is how it started. ultrasonic cleaned all the parts. Carb cleaned all parts. I polished all plate surfaces with 900 wet or dry, wet with diesel. I did not take much, just enough to polish. Sprayed everything with diesel during assembly. Except the top end. I used royal purple assembly lube.

plate on the left gets the bearing in the hole showing. Plate on the right gets the little baffle. I think I have better pics of it actually going together.

This is the first plate to go on. The bearing is underneath. The baffle is in the approximate position.
