Sealing Stove Vent in Cold Weather
Last week it was pretty cold at elk camp. There was a rather significant flow of cold air coming through my stove vent. Before leaving town I put a layer of Reflectix on the outside vent but it didn't survive the drive up into the mountains.
What's a good way to seal off the stove vent, at least while not cooling on the stove top? I stuck a few layers of paper town between the hood and the filter. That worked pretty good, but it was maybe a 60% solution.

I like the idea of foam. I can stuff it up into the vent from the outside. I tried that with the Reflectix but it must have come out while on the road.
It would be nice if there was a damper in the vent so that it only opened when the hood fan was on.
I really should just give up and stick to 3 seasons with this trailer. It really isn't cut out for cold weather.

That's about what my outside vent looks like.
I thought I would ask about this as someone may have come up with a novel way to block the air from the inside. Like something that replaces the filter so that you don't have to go outside and remove the block if you want to use the vent while cooking.s

You got that right! It seems like the stove vent's purpose is to let freezing cold air in when my furnace is working like crazy to keep the trailer warm.
