alternator voltage
i recently replaced the alternator in a 97 ford f150 4.6 triton V8.
first thing that happens....battery starts shooting acid all over the engine compartment...im guessing its being overcharged.
battery was replaced....same thing happens.
i am recieving 17 volts to the battery at idle...is this normal?
how can i regulate it?
has this happened to anyone else?...please help

Hi and welcome to FTE 
It sounds like your voltage regulator is bad. It is internal in the alternator. At idle it should put out approx 13.5 volts.
I would take the alternator back to where you got it from and get another one.
