Baby Swamps with .84 Housing?
#16
For 5700$ hell I'd fly out and install:
BW s369 1000$
Driven Diesel efuel 1000$
160 cc injectors 1400$
6.0 IC and pipes 500$
t4 kit and intake piping $1000
On a side note. Whoever talked you into a .84 housing, let alone said the stock turbo will push enough air to cool baby swamps when towing that weight with custom tunes is quite simply just trying to make money, and it sounds like they did. Bigger fuel bigger housing...
Coming from someone who had to run water just to keep 160s in check with EGTs when towing IN A STOCK TUNE, I can tell you stock turbo, billet wheel ported or whatever pixie dust bs else is done to it, wont cut it (I tried it all and wasted a lot of time and funds doing so 7 years ago! It simply will not push the volume to keep it cool with the added fuel, you need more air period. Guys who claim this work are pulling a small travel trailer down near sea level over what they call mountain or small mole hills. Yes then it will work... Not pulling IKE or any other 7% grade pass for double digit mileage from 5-11k feet. Doesn't matter if its a even a new ford, dodge or Cheby, anything out of stock will require detuning if the air isn't there. Its our biggest battle to build around in CO.
Pulling heavy over any significant grade at even mild altitudes with anything outside of stock injectors will create heat issues, whether you want to monitor them or not.
