Death wobble, already!
#61
My tires have been between 65 - 80 psi and it never made a difference. The problem has been fixed a long time a go. I had a 2” Fabtech level with new shocks, a new steering stabilizer, 35” tires and a fresh alignment. So far 10 months later The truck has just shy of 65,000 miles and I haven’t had any problems. As a matter of fact the truck drives better than it did new!
Got and pics of yours the way it sits now?

DW twice at highway speed scared the &hit out of me ! Took it to dealer replaced steering dampener and drag link seems to have stopped DW still feels like it wants to wobble but the dampener stops it . No confidence at all in this truck. 2017 F250 XLT diesel bought new in 2018 14,000 miles.

The death wobble has been almost completely ironed out of modern trucks. This op is a very rare, specific case. Even my fathers 06 f350 has never had an issue with it. I really do not want IFS in my truck and is part of the reason I do not plan on getting a chevy/gmc anytime soon. There are other reasons but IFS is a big one.
What does Ford (dealer) say if you go out on your own with front end modifications to try and fix this after they've failed?

I have to say this scares the hell out of me. I just bought a new 18 F250 and I do not want a truck with death wobble. My 05 had death wobble when I bought it used at 30k miles. That was in 07. Had to put new tires on it, alignment, only then would the dealer would look at the problem even though it was under warranty. They then said nothing was wrong, so I showed them where the stabilizer was wearing the mount holes out(I had checked it out first because I wasn't taking the runaround anymore). They replaced it and a couple of other parts that I can't remember and I never had the problem again. That truck only has 73k on it now and I'm keeping it BTW. It has never had the issue again, but I didn't think that 13 years later anyone would be talking about death wobble. I'm honestly not sure I would have bought the 18 had I known this could be a problem still. I realize I probably won't have the issue, but still that seems to be a huge mistake by Ford not correcting it in that amount of time.

I have 24,000 miles and my truck has been doing it for a while and getting worse. So bad the other day on a rough patch of interstate with repeated incidents that I was able to take a video. Got to get this truck into the dealer. 2017 F-250 6.2 4x4, all stock no mods.

I witnessed a Dodge doing the DW on the interstate at 75mph from the opposite lane as he passed me with a car hauler. Front wheel was folding nearly completely under the truck repeatedly. Very scary to watch and the guy was white as a ghost by the time he got it shut down. All this time I thought it was unique to Dodge and is one reason I didn't even test drive a Dodge but considered another GM.

My 2011 CC, LB, 6.7, 4x4 had this and it was horrible. It could easily be induced on several roads I drove daily on. It mostly happened when on a road with a slight left hand bend, 50+ mph, and hit a bump, even as small as a expansion joint in the road. Dealer replaced the steering stabilizer, solved it for 1 month.
The eventual cure for me was this:

Never had it again after that, not one time. Had to pay out of my pocket and have a shop install it but it was well worth it for me.

How many miles since the dual shock setup and no DW. Link to where you got the stabilizer please. Pxx something?

IMHO a SS is not a long term fix. Having fought with death wobble on three different dodge rams, in all cases it was always worn ball joints, or bad tires, or (every case) worn track bar end joints, or insufficient caster (all three). Control arm connection joints can also contribute to death wobble. Running wheels with excessive negative offset and huge heavy mud grip tires only aggravates the problem. Not popular to say the truth but there it is...
In all cases, new trucks should not have these issues. But sometimes they do and it sucks.
