That’s the thermostatic vacuum switch that modulated the baffle that directed warm air off the exhaust manifold through the air cleaner (I think). If it isn’t leaking coolant, I wouldn’t give it another thought.

Vac Switch

On my 77 with a 351M That would be a Vac controlled by heat that goes to my Distributor. On mine it switches between different Vac sources . After I hooked it up my engine ran a whole lot better. My Distributor must be set up for this setup.

One of these days I'm going to learn to stop jinxing myself by saying stuff like this. I got a message from the wife to call the doctor ASAP this morning. The blood work came back fine, but the retina scan set off all sorts of alarms. I get to go visit the specialty eye doctor tomorrow morning (yeah they scheduled it that quick ) and find out what's up.

Hope everything's okay Grems! I know when I had my cataract surgery, they wanted to do it like THE NEXT DAY after they found it! Wound up being about 3 - 4 weeks after that, but if you've ever had surgery scheduled at the V. A., you KNOW how quick that was! Prayers, my friend! Let us know!

Morning guys.

Short week is right. I only had 3 - 8 hour shifts this week and I'm spending part of one going to the eye doctor. I wasn't really sweating this until my doctor called me this morning to make sure I had the time and place of my appointment and to update me with what she learned from my regular eye guy. To a degree, ignorance is truly bliss.

We had a Thanksgiving preview with Alex this weekend so I'm already warmed up and ready to go for Thursday. Hopefully the wife will remember the sugar in the pumpkin pie this time.

I found the sweet spot for the big white truck for interstate travel! 67 MPH got me 15 MPG back and forth to Springfield. Too bad the rural roads I take to work won't let me do that.

Actually, it wasn't half bad - especially with whipped topping on it. Being diabetic, I can say that I've had "sugar free" pumpkin pies that tasted much worse.

Good morning fellers!
We're going to the KC area for Thanksgiving, since we've been gone the last 5. Turkey is thawing out, still, and our light display "should" be finished this afternoon. Just some work to get the shrubs ready to go for Friday night when we fire it all up, weather permitting.

Unk Bob
