Wow... been awhile since I posted and have done much.... now knee deep in rewiring the entire truck from scratch... I purchased an inexpensive 14 circuit wire harness from ebay and removed all the wires plus a ton of parts, wires and various fuse blocks to play with... i like the premade wire harness not because it is premade... but because it was two rows of 7 circuits... and it would suit my needs perfectly.

I ran 8 gauge from battery to a 4 circuit block... then 10ga to the ignition and ACC back to one side of the 14 circuit block.. now its just a matter of running all the wires... only took me 3 weeks of staring at all the parts and the truck while it rained... lol.

Rebuilt both door windows the past week... not real happy with the reproduction window kits... good enough for the daily driver but I’d be pissed if I were doing a show truck... images are a bit out of order (issues with posting from my ipad). Also, i purchased new rollers ... ended up failing and i reused the oringal steel rollers with lots of lithium grease... worked much better than the replacements...

Nice job. I like the hood. After seeing my '59 for a long time, when I see the neighbor's '57 it looks like something is missing with the gap over the grill. The bed looks good too. I generally like fender sides on short beds but this series looks really nice with style side short or long bed.

Nice looking 66 Mustang you have there as well HyePo57. Are you on VMF? And where in central CA are you? We regularly visit the in-laws in Bakersfield.

BTW, your 57 looks fantastic! I learned to drive on the ranch on my grandfather's 1960 Custom Cab with a 292 and 3 on the tree. I loved that truck! When he passed away, I waited just a few too many days before calling the family to see who I needed to talk to about buying his truck and learned they had just sold it (for next to nothing!). 25 years later, I'm still upset I didn't get to buy grandpa's truck.

Anyway, I'm sure your son will enjoy your 57!

Its been a long time since I've posted or even fiddled with my '57. but making plans to finish her up. will likely be looking to move the tank to the rear and install the power steering/tilt wheel in the next few months. Looking around it seems that the 70 Mustang gas tank (22gal) is the preferred tank with fill through the bed. Also still planning on making the one piece vacuum formed door panels that include speaker mounts and similar for kick panels.

So while I mill around thinking of all the things I'd like to do or finish on the truck, questions to arise.. like the water that drains behind the kick panels.. seems when i wash the truck (hose pressure) water does indeed come in (no kick panels on at this moment). is this by design in that the water flow under the fender flow though the body and out the bottom? just seems odd that i'd have puddles on the floor where one's toes would rest when sitting in the seat. also both sides of the "step" show water when it rains and I've already replaced the window felt.. is this a natural drain for water that gets in the door? Questions that prevent me from putting speakers in those areas (like we did on the 66 Mustang) or finishing the forms for the vacuum formed kick and door panels.

anyone have any suggestions or diagnoses?

The air vents have to let water in. My '59 vent was full of leaves and all the way down to the vent doors.

LOL. So was mine on both sides. Leftovers from PO. Took a minute while on the Route 66 road trip to figure out where all the crap was blowing in while driving... just seems that the design of the drainage within the walls of the cab should not necessarily blow into the cab. Unless there is something messed up or missing in my particular truck...

There are likely drain holes that are clogged with dirt and debris.

Checked my cab. Large drain holes under vents. Don't know how to access them with fenders on.
