No retainer clip. The bushing is grooved to hold the it all together. Good luck. Its been working perfectly since I made the repair a while ago now.

1972 Camper Special

Hi, I recently ran into the same problem I can not get the bushing on. Is there a trick? Tried using huge Chanel locks won't grab on far enough to put even pressure on the bushing. Then vice grips but, can't get an even grip on those either. Any help would be great!

QUOTE=culpthm1;17558645]Hello all - looking for the correct grommet or bushing to connect the shift rod coming down from the steering column to the linkage on my C6 transmission. You can see the 1/2" hole in the shift linkage it needs to connect into. I tried purchasing a grommet that looks exactly like the one that broke from Advanced Auto Parts but it is made of hard plastic and there is no way to press the rod in. The inner lip that is to fit in the groove in the rod has a smaller diameter than the rod (3/8"). Thanks in advance for your help.

So I am trying to figure out, what does that other lever go to? I have a lever on mine that looks exactly like that but I can't seem to figure out what it attaches to.

Here is a picture of the kickdown linkage you were wondering about. The linkage has an adapter on it because that is a 4bbl holley on it.

That didn't look like a genuine Ford bushing. The Ford ones had a ridge on it's inside that would fit in the rod's groove locking the rod in. Making pushing it all the way through unnecessary.

This nylon bushing 'snaps' into the selector lever.

One TN source: AUTO NATION FORD in Memphis TN has 3 = 866-219-5755.
That is the same part(eosz-7341-b) as listed above. It does have the ridge on the inside of the insulator and is snapped into place. At the time, I only put a clip on it because I seen the groove, and I just happened to have one that size.
