The car has a lot of issues. We was goIn to junk it. It doesn’t shift sometimes and will take a while to kick into gear when taking off at interection. Has suspension issues and everything under there is all rusted so it is horrible to work with. The things worth 2500 in perfect condition. That’s the dealer price

I once killed one 3/8 ratchet out of that set - I used it as a "back stop" for the other side of a core support bolt, with my 1/2" impact on the other side. It did the job, but disintegrated the ratchet mechanism inside. Brought it back in to HFT and they replaced it - no receipt, no questions.
I also use a set of 1/2 impact-grade sockets with my 1/2" impacts - no issues yet.
Wrenches - same deal.
Torx bits... I destroyed one T45 3/8 drive bit... Put it on my 1/2" impact and started pulling those stupid torx seatbelt bolts on a Blazer. One was... a little rusty, evidently.
Note that I couldn't budge *any* of these with an 18" breaker bar, so...
Hex to socket-drive adapters for my impact... I think I've broken one in the last 6 years. Lost perhaps 10 of them. They work exceedingly well.
Also, I tend to lose my tools too, so being able to replace them without breaking the bank is nice. I'm forever losing wrenches and the occasional socket.
Craftsman, though... I keep hearing horror stories. The new stuff is apparently HFT quality or worse, and getting them to honor warranties is sometimes problematic.
Anyway, I know what you are saying... But my own experience has been nothing but positive. I expected to have a "cheap" set of tools and then when they broke, replace them with good ones... but they aren't breaking!

*(Clarification - it was actually my wife, not me, who broke the 30" breaker bar...)
Re. the OP - truck needs some serious TLC, but a manual 4x4 IDI in any decent running shape is a $2000 truck, so yeah, good trade. IDI manual 4x4 is an ideal low-budget SHTF / GTFO truck; you can run it on pretty-much one wire. SuperCab and overdrive are bonuses. And mercifully, no porno red interior that appeared in so many red trucks....
