Well, I did something pretty stupid! I won't go into details but I threw out my only Ranger ignition key in the garbage! LOL! I told you I wasn't going into details!!! So now I am stuck with out being able to start my Ranger. I guess I can go get a new ignition but in order to get the old one out the Haynes manual tells me I need the key! So is there another way or am I screwed?!?! Thanks for any help!
I think you are down to using a drill or seeing if a locksmith can help, the second one is sure worth the call. Before drilling let us know, I think I recall a procedure for doing that but will have to look around for it.
I had an ignition problem with one o f my old 150 I put a momemtary swith wired to the starter under the dash.
Only required two wires off of the silenoid really cheap option but also leaves vehicle easier to theft.
On three different occasions I have just asked everybody I knew with a ford to let me see their key and opened the door of a locked vehicle. Not mine twice but it did work.A locksmith is who I would got to next. Also the Ford dealership where the car was bought may have that key on file in their data base and charge you a fee for making a new one.Good luck. The fee may be less than the locksmith!

I was thinking the exact same thing about trying other keys! My dad has about 10 Ford trucks so I would think maybe one of them would work. I was a little surprised yesterday actually because he locked his keys in his 1996 F-150 and didn't have a spare. So I just thought I have a key here that MIGHT work and decided to try it. Guess what?!?! It worked. Funny thing was the key looked totally different and it was from a 1979 F-350! HAHAHAHA! I guess there is still hope. I'll report back!
