We sometimes just baby sit our kids pets when the kids are away from home and it’s amazing that after just a week, when they they go home I’m still holding doors and checking bowls and expecting them to walk in the room. I can only imagine what it would be like after years. Condolences for the loss of your companion.

Sad to hear the news Sean. I'm sure you have many fond memories that will live on. It's amazing the impact our critters have on our lives.

How sad Yahiko, we lost Tuco about 3 months ago (that's him in my avitar). He got in a fight with a big dog and lost. What can you do? He loved to run and hang out. I feel your pain.

Interesting video about 3D printing a turbo, in stainless steel. It’s printed with the moving parts installed and the threads in the holes etc. small/large turbo combo isn’t a new idea but it’s all one unit. Kinda cool. This company is also doing a lot of cool stuff with carbon fiber if you want to check some of their other videos.

That guy is nothing short of brilliant! He has come up with some amazing technologies. Plus he is just such a motor-head

Hadn't realized how far the 3D printing had come, either...

Thanks for sharing!

Imagine 3D printed engine blocks with heads attached as one piece. No more head gasket failure. Valves could be installed from the crankcase through the cylinders.

That’s what blew my mind, I didn’t realize you could print using stainless steel as the medium. He also mentions Titanium! What must that printer look like? Also to make a turbo with all the working parts already inside it means you could come up with some really wild designs. I guess there wouldn’t be any way to open it up for repairs or cleaning. A very expensive disposable part, but hey if cost isn’t a consideration....

If you can afford one of his cars, the cost of the turbo replacement likely is... not... a... priority.

So how do they do the bearings?? I'd just be happy to get to drive one...

More than likely they suspend the print and place it in and restart it.
There are a lot of projects that have things inside the structure.

One of the formula 1 engine gurus did the one-piece block casting 20-30 years ago, and I'm sure he wasn't the first. Can't remember his name though 😟
