FWIW, the $700 or so for an IP rebuild at Conestoga diesel seems well worth it. I've been browsing our forum and brainstorming on doing the same on my IDI eventually. Maybe even a turbo too.

Here's a link to parts store IPs for our IDI. It seems the cheapies still come in at about $500. And that's with a lame warranty and questionable rebuild.
