Are there any trailers coming from the factory with the Goosebox on them? Or, even as an option?

They come with what's main stream but I bet if you request it upon purchase of the 5er they may swap it for you. It's really up to the dealer. I know Lippert will still honor the chassis warranty with a proper replaced pinbox for a goose box, but not the adapters that go on the factory pinbox.

Open Range used to have a type of one that could be converted to a gooseneck on their light series.

You're right but the chassis was built and designed for it. For instance two models that have it are Open Range Light 295FBH & 319RLS. I forgot about these and only seen 2 in the past 2 years. You can switch from a pin to ball.

I saw one of those on an Open Range just yesterday. Thought it looked kind of odd. Wasn't really sure how it connected to the truck. Now I see.

I'll take the extra weight and piece of mind.

I have met many RVers too, although not as much as you, and I have only seen one other AUH than my own. If they have sold millions, where are they installed?

I think it's mostly sold to those 3 x's a year towing crowd. After all they all seem to brag how easy it is to remove. I tow alot, why would I want to remove it? I have not seen one in use yet at a campground. Just my thought & opinion.

Tis my suspicion that when not in use they're being tucked away:

It's easy to tell because of the coupler attached to the pin, you don't have to see the hitch. That photo makes me laugh because I never have room for my hitch in the basement storage traveling or at our homebase.

The coupler attached to the pin can also look like one of the anti-theft devices for a fifth wheel unless you're real familiar with what the Andersen looks like.

I have a gooseneck cattle trailer and 20,000 GVWR flatbed gooseneck farm trailer I use frequently. It got to be a real pain (in the back) removing the B&W fifth wheel hitch every time I needed to use the other trailers or needed the truck bed for hauling stuff. I tried the Anderson but it did not work well with the type pin box I had. I got a Goosebox and love it.

I hear you there. I did the opposite on my 32 tandem dual wheel gooseneck flatbed. On that I remove the goose ball coupler and welded up a 5th wheel kingpin tube so I use my same 5er plate.
I do like the Goosebox and in your case don't blame you for the conversion. I actually would recommend the Goosebox any day over the Andersen.
For anyone that doesn't know, this is a goosebox pinbox replacement

An FYI for anyone installing a Goosebox, If your wing set uses 2" vertical spacing you have to drill an additional hole in the Goosebox. Only the rear holes are drilled at 2" spacing, the spacing on the front holes is 2.5" and 3". The instructions are not very clear and Reese is now aware of it. No idea why they didn't punch another hole in each side.
