I was curious if anyone has built a dual snorkel stock air filter housing?
Hey FE's,
I think that I have seen a dual snorkel stock air filter housing on another kind of car or truck. But I was curious if anyone has built a dual snorkel stock air filter housing, or has anyone seen a dual snorkel stock ' style ' air filter housing?
So, my stock air filter housing is black, with one snorkel coming out on the passenger's side. But the snorkel is an odd looking shape. I would prefer to have two Galaxie looking tube like snorkels coming out at a 90 degree angle, heading towards the fenders, or maybe towards the grill, so fresh, cold air shooting in to the air filter, ie the engine.
Yeah, I have seen some non stock ones on the selling site that rhymes with eBay. But I think that a stock looking housing would look best.
Has anyone seen one, or built one, or etc.
Any advice or pics would be great!
Thanks again, FE's ! 15

Those round ports go to some sort of fresh-air intake, don't they?
The idea is that the snorkels have some sort of mechanism to switch from under-hood air t- fresh air - maybe after the engine heats up?
I'm not an expert on the car stuff, someone else here will check in and give us the real deal, I'm sure

I believe that it is a part of the vacuum system. There are some flaps inside the snorkels, I don't know exactly how the vacuum system works, but when the vacuum system is working, the flaps open up. Maybe the vacuum system works with a cold start issue. But, the vacuum system works with the flaps inside the snorkels.

Different application. Instead of a vacuum motor(s) to ingest fresh/heated air, this particular model uses a different style motor. Those opening(s) (note flanges) are for the heat riser tubes.
