Time to replace 13 y/o tires ?
DOT says UTOK NCC 3404.....which is mfr date of August of 2004 +/-
I bought this Ford Ranger in 2006 with 73,729 miles and today's reading is 77,666. (Not a typo)....They look good; lots of tread, no cupping or other wear and no cracks in either side of sidewalls. 255/70R16, 4 ply.
Should I replace them just for the halibut ?
TIA

Truck lives in Oregon? If Arizona that's one thing, especially if truck is stored outside in direct sunlight. Older tires lose their gription though, esp. on wet road. The rubber turns hard and it isn't really noticeable because it's so gradual. Tread height isn't the only consideration. I'd agree it depends on use. Extended high speed use on the freeway in hot weather vs. just bombing around town.
