Can I use a 90's oil pan on my 86 460?
I have an 86 F350 2wd 460 that I'm rebuilding and I broke the dipstick trying to install it around the headers. It is a thread in style dipstick and I was planning to order a lokar or milodon flexible dipstick but they only seem to make them for the push in style pans, not the thread in. Is there any reason that I can't use a 96 460 pan from a 2wd F350 that has the push in style dipstick? The pans look identical and the dimensions are all the same, but I wanted to be sure there wasnt anything I was overlooking before ordering the 1996 pan just to be sure. I don't know the ins an outs of fords yet like i do chevys so I don't want to make a dumb mistake...hence my reaching out to those with the experience for assurance that I'm on the right path.
