Van dying at 1/2 tank 2000 e350 5.4l gas

Valid point, but with the sending units with the pump is in the bottom of the tank, unlikely, But, I have heard of the rubber line from the pump to the outlet coming loose, or off, causing fuel pressure problems.
His problem seams to be an overheating fuel pump, that's shutting down after driving some time (20 minutes).

A little update drove it this weekend and it died right after refueling. we were stuck on the highway for a little while. I swapped the relays around it started running again for about 2miles then died. We called a tow truck. About 30-45min later we tried to restart it again and it started and drove the 1hr plus rest of the way. On the way home a 3+ hr drive no problems at all??? I have the fuel tank down to about a 1/4 of a tank and it still runs. Planning on doing a fuel pressure test. I also got the code p0401 on the way home. As well as p0232 when the van died.
