Saddle/Rear gas tanks

Ok so here’s my predicament, I have a 76’ highboy with a heavy, clunky, annoying, dangerous saddle tank that straddles the frame. Needless to say it’s causing all sorts of problems. Such as exhuast system issues ( not being able to put anything on that side lol ). This thing is HEAVY, do not know how much yet but I’ll weight it when it gets taken off. In addition to this tank I have the in cab tank. Does anyone know of places I can get quality rear gas tanks that hold 20 or more gallons? This one holds 20. If you think I should stay with some king of saddle tank please put that opinion in as well. Thoughts would be a in the frame saddle tank or a rear tank. Also if you have any pictures ( preferably of highboys ) post em! I also heard a Bronco II tank is the way to go?

"Highboys have a unique frame, not shared with other trucks. Like the F-350
frame, all Highboys have a narrow frame, which is 33.5-inches wide. Fifth
generation (1967-1972) F-series trucks had narrow frames as well. Sixth
generation (1973-1979) F-series trucks had wider 37.5-inch rear frame
rails, except for the 1973-1977.5 Highboy frame and the 1973-1979 F-350
with 139-inch wheelbase."

"Highboys came only with in-cab gas tanks, and optionally, with an
additional side-mounted gas tank, but never with a rear gas tank. A rear
gas tank is too wide to fit between the narrower 33.5-inch-wide rear frame
rails of the unique Highboy frame, and can only fit between the
37.5-inch-wide non-Highboy rear frame rails."

Do a little thread searching for a thread that talks about putting a newer 80's/90's plastic bronco II tank back there.

I don't have first hand knowledge here so I can't assist you, but is the left one a Bronco II tank (like you found on eBay recently) and the right one a 25-gallon tank from a 78 Bronco as posted by Randy_Jack on a 56 F-100?

Also, is the 20 gallon saddle tank that straddles the frame, a behind the aluminum door gas cap type or does it utilize the knock out in the bed? I can't tell from the few pics I've found that you posted.
