o d light flashing with brand new shift lever is still flashing 2001 f350

Flashing OD light means you have a transmission issue, replacing the shift lever will not make it go away. You will need to get the codes read by a good transmission shop to identify the problem in the transmission, or purchase a scanner that works with your vehicle.

No way to check
Several years ago I bought the truck used and the code reader has never worked so I need to try to fix it on the fly. I had already installed a new shift lever with O/D. I've now flushed the tranny and it has the right type and the right amount in it. I have also wrapped every wire with electrical tape. It still will start flashing if I stop and idle, ie: stop light. As long as I can keep it rolling nothing happens but when it is in the blinking mode the only way I can get it to go forward is to floor it. At the times the light blinks, I turn it off and re -start it which is horrible in the traffic I have to drive through, 1:25 and 1-70 in Colorado, please help me if you can. Thanks, Leslie Kennedy

If you can't read the codes that are stored all anyone can do is guess. I can list a bunch of parts and you can buy and install. Eventually, you'll probably get lucky and replace whatever is causing the problem.
Or you could get the codes read with a different reader and we could send you right to the problem. Your call.

A quality scan tool is worth it's weight in gold when it comes to these trucks. Especially for transmission codes. You will save yourself a lot of time and money by getting the code read that is already stored. It will tell you what is wrong, or at least point you in the right direction.
